Blue Sky Aviation GmbH is based with its fleet, office and Briefing rooms at the airfield in Mönchengladbach (ICAO identifier EDLN). Here we are centrally accessible as a flight school in NRW.
The location EDLN offers an excellent infrastructure. You can reach our modern training facility by public transportation as well as by car in less than 30 minutes from the Western and Southern Ruhr area as well as from Dusseldorf or Cologne.
Here we also offer our training courses overlooking the airfield Mönchengladbach.
EDLN has a 1,200 m long paved runway in a controlled zone. The course is available 7 days a week from 08:00AM to 8:30PM. The advantage of the paved runway is that even after long-lasting wet weather or in winter in good weather, the space is available. At airfields with pure grass tracks, restrictions can often arise due to softened or cleared grounds. Clear advantage to grass tracks in Grefrath, Kamp-Lintfort which are then not available in the best weather.
Arrivals and departures are under the supervision of air traffic control. This consistent application of the prescribed and standardized procedures at a controlled aerodrome already learned during training is an important basic and a great strategic advantage over an uncontrolled aerodrome. At the EDLN site we also have excellent opportunities to use night flights.
In addition to the paved runway, a PAPI and an ILS are available.
